Poi is an ancient practice of swinging a ball like object on the end of a rope. Modern Poi spinning consists of a fuel containing fabric that is then spun around on chains. A pair is often used. Besides fire, Poi is spun with flags, UV (LED) Poi for non fire night time spinning, and tails like rhythmic gymnastics.
The fire staff is a wooden or metal pole with fuel containing fabric on both sides that is lit on fire and spun around the body with your hands. Spinning the staff is a great upper body work out. For many people it assists with balance, coordination, mental and physical focus and becoming amedextrious.
Contact Staff: The staff can be manipulated with all parts of the body not just the hands. This is called contact staff.
Hooping is a fun way to be active, loose
weight, tone up, dance, raise self esteem, express
yourself and so much more.
A light multi-colored plastic hoop that is whirled around the body for play or exercise by the movement of the hips. The addition of fabric on steel rods attached to the hoop allows hula hooping with fire.
Nunchucks is a traditional weapon of the Kobudo weapons set and consists of two sticks connected at their ends with a short chain or rope. When a fuel absorbing, fire resistant fabric is attached, the nunchuck can spin with fire.
